This project started with a “craftsman cabin” kit that was made for a national miniature creative contest.
I was not sure what I was going to do with it when I ordered it, but I liked it.
When I decided to build a garage, I remembered it. I modified and assembled the kit, and started gathering items to fill it.
I found a car similar to one my son had admired on a visit, and I knew he was interested in old trucks.
I found the “Forest Gump” pickup and the car in a flea market on one of my trips.
I finished the garage in time to enter the contest, and won second place.
I did not photograph the building process because I was only thinking of finishing it as a gift for my son.
The front of Frankie’s Garage with the doors closed. The building started as an unfinished kit. As I assembled it, I raised the front roof, so the interior could be viewed better. I also had to eliminate the front wall and fabricate the doors. I added a bathroom where a side porch would have been.

Doors opened with interior lights on. I ran a strip of LED lights inside the room, below the two small front windows under the main roof, to reflect back into the interior.

Looking down into the bathroom. I had to modify an entry door and porch on the original kit, to add this bathroom.

The August, 2018, issue of American Miniaturist magazine that Frankie’s Garage appeared in, with over a 7-page article.
This was the notice for the national Creatin’ Contest. It was the first miniature contest I had ever entered.
As a result of winning second place in the Creatin' Contest, I was mentioned in Miniature Collector magazine, and the bathroom from Frankie’s Garage was put on the cover of their July, 2018, edition.
